IL / Business energy guide

Make your Illinois electricity comparison easier to understand.

Check your utility benchmark and ask what an offer includes.

Know your starting point

The Illinois Commerce Commission’s Plug In Illinois site explains electric choice and provides utility price-to-compare resources, supplier information, and questions to ask before switching. Use the information relevant to your service and customer class.

Compare a business offer with a business baseline

A residential offer is not a substitute for a commercial quote. Assemble your business’s usage and current contract so you can compare offers for the same meter, period, and usage assumptions.

Prepare your purchasing questions

If your operation has seasonal production or extended shifts, include that information with your usage history. Ask how the proposal handles changes in consumption instead of evaluating the headline rate alone.

Prepare for a rate review

Keep a recent bill, your current agreement, and the renewal date together. For each quote, record the term, charges included, cancellation conditions, and any broker compensation. Savings are not guaranteed; compare total costs and contractual obligations.
