Texas commercial accounts may be able to evaluate competitive electricity supply. The service address and utility bill determine which rules, products, and suppliers can apply.
Choice applies within the ERCOT service area. Municipal utilities such as Austin Energy and CPS Energy, and areas outside ERCOT, are not part of the competitive market, and retail natural gas choice is not broadly available in Texas.
Public program information and supplier resources are available through PowerToChoose.org. Market rules are overseen by Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT). Confirm current rules and account eligibility before enrollment.

The regulated utility generally continues delivery, meter service, and outage response. A competitive supplier changes the supply arrangement where the account is eligible.
A recent utility bill, service address, utility name, account identifier, twelve months of usage when available, and the current contract expiration date provide a useful starting point.
