Michigan Electricity Deregulation Guide
Michigan allows eligible commercial customers to shop for electricity from a licensed competitive supplier. The grid operates under MISO. Delivery stays with the regulated utility, including DTE Energy and Consumers Energy; the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) oversees supplier licensing and market rules. Michigan caps participation in its Electric Choice program, historically around 10% of each utility load, and the program is typically fully subscribed with a waitlist, so enrollment is not guaranteed even where eligible.
