Indiana Electricity Deregulation Guide
Indiana allows eligible commercial customers to shop for electricity from a licensed competitive supplier. The grid operates under MISO (Indiana Michigan Power territory is in PJM). Delivery stays with the regulated utility, including Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) and AES Indiana, among others; the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) oversees supplier licensing and market rules. Retail electric choice in Indiana is essentially limited to a legacy, capped program in Indiana Michigan Power territory. That program has long been fully subscribed and is not generally open to new customers statewide.
